- Age: the chances of getting cancer increases as age advances
- Genes: family history of breast cancer.
- Personal factors:
- beginning of periods before age 12 or going through menopause after age 55
Other risk factors of breast cancer that can be changed include:
- Overweight or obese
- Not having children or having first child after age 35
- Having a dense/ heavy breast
- Using hormone replacement
- Taking birth control pills
